Emmaus 2008

We got to hear the Emmaus story today. It only appears in the Sunday morning lectionary in Year A, the year of Matthew, even though the passage is only in Luke. I can't hear the story enough. I go back to it on my own the other two years of the lectionary cycle. I love how the story ends.

Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

The beauty of this is that Christ is made known to us in the breaking of the bread every Sunday when we receive Communion.
