Good News About St. Francis Retreat Center

The fire damage at St. Francis Retreat center wasn't as catastrophic as I made it out to be, acording the Pinnacle newspaper in Hollister.

Only one building was lost, albeit the main building. The guest house remains, and the grounds are unharmed. They are already in the process of recovering, and will continue to operate. Temporary measures are being put in place for offices, food preparation, and meal service.

The Pinnacle says:

Ed DeGroot, who manages business operations at the retreat, said that they have been awed by the response they've received from local contractors.

"Everyone seems intent on putting the facility back together the way it was before," DeGroot said. "People have been extremely generous with donating thus far."
